Bach cadence fingerprints 6: 4-3-2
Use the questions in the Fingerprints 6 log to guide your exploration of these extracts from Bach's chorale harmonisations. If you've not got your logbook handy, you can download the relevant page HERE.
Once you have completed your examination of these examples, have a go at the 4-3-2 cadence worksheet. You might want to find other examples in Bach's chorales. You should also go back through previous worksheets to see if you can improve them in the light of your explorations.
In a couple of these examples Bach does something that is interesting and unusual - this point in the chorale is marked with a   . If you are curious it would be a good idea to work out what Bach does (e.g. treat a dissonance unconventionally or use a strange chord) and speculate as to why (e.g. to avoid parallel fifths or to improve the progression of harmonies). You should not however incorporate such rarely used features in your own chorales.
